Cardmaking!

So I wanted to try out some cardmaking, just for fun to see what I could come up with.  I'm obssessed with Tim's rose tutorial, so of course I had to include roses in my creation.  I'm pretty excited about how they turned out, and have them for sale on my etsy! They are very reasonably priced for those who want a crafty creation without paying a fortune (LOL!).

I'm calling my style/theme for these cards "Music of the Heart."  Hopefully they can reflect a message through their creation, the loving care that went into creating it, and the unspoken words it tells the recipient... I really got inspired guys!



Here are some pictures and details of the flowers and embellishments.

 You can see the glossiness of the roses and the embellies.  I layered Mod Podge on every part of the flower to give it that nice glossy finish, but also to harden it and make sure it sticks to the cardstock (we don't want a card malfunction!).

This is another view of the card.  You can see the stamping on the left side.  I used an old damask stamp and inked with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Aged Mahogany.  I then sprayed with water to let the ink fade slightly for a weathered look.  The pins are from Maya road and I used them to layer some pearlies and a really cute button from my stash.  

This is the other card I have for sale on my etsy right now.  Equally inspiring!


This card is very similar in terms of embellishments, the roses are also mod podged, but instaed of pearlies and buttons I used this really fuzzy and fun fabric and gold ribbon. TFL!

Poinsettia Wreath

I have accumulated so much ribbon lately that I was looking for ways to use it to make some holiday decor.  I remembered how my grandmother used to make wreaths for every holiday and I used to sit down in her kitchen table and look at her beautiful creations.  I clearly remembered the Day of the Dead wreaths she made with crepe paper, wire, and ribbon.   In my nostalgia I thought about using my ribbon to decorate a wreath.  I had some cardboard left over and I drew a circle and cut it out to use it as the base.  Then I started scrunching up the wired ribbon all around. I used glue to keep it into place and mini brads on some parts, just to keep it in place but I took them away when it was dry. The poinsettias are from Michael's.  They have stems with 3-4 poinsettias for like $1.99.  I kept the palette soft and used white and gold poinsettias.  By the way, did you know poinsettias come from Mexico? Handmade Christmas Trees

Hi Dear Crafty Friends, It has been a long time... This hiatus had to do with my very demanding semester of graduate school work.  I moved in June, and then took my general degree examinations in September (3 days of grueling testing).  Then took my oral examinations and wrote my dissertation prospectus.  Ah, and almost forgot, submitted about 15 applications for internship.  Yes, it has been a very long and very hard couple of months and my craft suffered during this time.   But yesterday my son saw some Christmas trees and he asked me if he could have one.  I turned to pinterest for inspiration and voila, I made our very own mini Christmas trees.  Here they are:  Super easy to make... I used cereal boxes as my base! I used wired glittered ribbon on the one at the far left and glued it with a hot glue gun.  Then used some nice trimmings on the rest of them.  All in all this was such a great chance to get back to my crafts!   TFL and hope to see you soon!
