It's a Scrappy Life!

If you've seen my latest work, you probably know that I'm obsessed with Tim's grunge roses.  I've made them in a variety of materials, including leather, paper, cardstock, grungeboard, chipboard, and now, a bandanna! They're just so much fun.  I think I made too many, so I'm giving this batch away! If you are interested, leave me a comment here letting me know or follow my blog. TFL!

I wanted to create something with a little pizzaz... if you know what I mean (wink!).  So I came up with this concept of a card in pink, black, white.  And if that was not all, the paper has a leopard print in black and white.... Now, with that said, everything is good in moderation, and I think this beautiful series of cards I have in mind and I'm calling "Glam!" have just enough flower power.  Take a peek! Here are more close ups of the embellishments and the flowers I made. I used Maya Road stick pins to secure a ribbon sewn with silver sequins and a little angel button I had in my stash.  But my favorite part is the inside.... Now this next card is the second on my series "Glam!" and I wanted to keep a similar color palette, but making it slightly simpler yet elegant.  So I kept textures rich and the overall presentation simple.  The stamp is beautiful and I added a rhinestone for a sparkle effect.  The bloom is from the bloomers collection by Webst

So I wanted to try out some cardmaking, just for fun to see what I could come up with.  I'm obssessed with Tim's rose tutorial, so of course I had to include roses in my creation.  I'm pretty excited about how they turned out, and have them for sale on my etsy! Hey everyone! I finally finished summer school, so I've been able to dedicate more time to my creative projects! I love embellishing my pages with handmade flowers or blooms.  I went to my local fabric store and they had these beautiful silky fabrics in different colors and just grabbed a bunch of different colors.  I used my Sizzix Big Shot and the Tim Holtz alterations die to create the flower that you see on one of my pins and a premade page I have for sale on ebay.  There is some sewing involved, but I swear it is minimal and really easy. Here are the steps... First you will need your die cutting machine. I don't know if regular paper punches work well with fabric, you may try it out. If you have neither, a stencil and sharp scissors will do the trick. What I do is fold the fabric I'm using on top of the die so that way you get multiple die cuts at the time. I have recently added some premade layouts to my ebay shop and thought I would share with you! I love them both, and to be honest I was about to keep them... I thought it would be a good idea to keep it low key and supplement my graduate student income... (and scrapbooking habit! LOL!) Take a peek at my ebay items, you can search me by my web name, lizbaas. This one I called Purple Perfect, and I started out with the beautiful purple silk bloom. The rest just fell into place. The detailing is rich yet clean and simple. This one is called Shabby Chic LO, and I really liked the soft palette of the Tim Holtz papers I used.
