<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It has been a long time... This hiatus had to do with my very demanding semester of graduate school work. I moved in June, and then took my general degree examinations in September (3 days of grueling testing). Then took my oral examinations and wrote my dissertation prospectus. Ah, and almost forgot, submitted about 15 applications for internship. Yes, it has been a very long and very hard couple of months and my craft suffered during this time. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">But yesterday my son saw some Christmas trees and he asked me if he could have one. I turned to pinterest for inspiration and voila, I made our very own mini Christmas trees. Here they are:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MYAbAT7r9nU/UKp-4MCqFCI/AAAAAAAADjo/5JQh6GyEqL4/s1600/536731_693909503210_804462883_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MYAbAT7r9nU/UKp-4MCqFCI/AAAAAAAADjo/5JQh6GyEqL4/s640/536731_693909503210_804462883_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Super easy to make... I used cereal boxes as my base! I used wired glittered ribbon on the one at the far left and glued it with a hot glue gun. Then used some nice trimmings on the rest of them. All in all this was such a great chance to get back to my crafts! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">TFL and hope to see you soon! </span>ScrappyLizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16399707681872206923noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2533025911450310663.post-79362023004908095072012-06-29T08:55:00.000-07:002012-06-30T17:06:47.935-07:00Thank you Cards<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hi dear bloggers, finally here to share some crafty work! I recently moved and you know how that is... took a while to get all my crafty stuff organized. I was asked to make some thank you cards for a school donor and I think I took it overboard, as I created so many! But the ones not used will be donated to OWH... So here they are!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I used a big and bold sentiment from Papertrey Ink. Papers from Pink Paislee Daily Junque and Prima Camelot flower </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PUpN6TvcNGA/T-3JlQIuXzI/AAAAAAAADiA/C5TJyuMaNuM/s1600/DSCN4269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="474" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PUpN6TvcNGA/T-3JlQIuXzI/AAAAAAAADiA/C5TJyuMaNuM/s640/DSCN4269.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">A more soft and shabby chic design, using papers from Melissa Frances, sentiment from Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday. </span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F18fqrXMT5E/T-3JmM5zuLI/AAAAAAAADiI/to2-_hNAo9A/s1600/DSCN4274.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F18fqrXMT5E/T-3JmM5zuLI/AAAAAAAADiI/to2-_hNAo9A/s640/DSCN4274.JPG" width="572" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Another card using papers from Pink Paislee Daily Junque. Sentiment from Big & Bold collections by Papertrey Ink.</span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HzERq_ud5d8/T-3Jmmg_p_I/AAAAAAAADiQ/tIXQSKxb8ew/s1600/DSCN4276.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="544" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HzERq_ud5d8/T-3Jmmg_p_I/AAAAAAAADiQ/tIXQSKxb8ew/s640/DSCN4276.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I think this one is my favorite! I used papers from Melissa Frances and a flower from Prima. Stamp from Big & Bold sentiments by Papertrey Ink. </span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ea8ECpsTTyQ/T-3JmwJ_xGI/AAAAAAAADiY/Wvm6aPxxNXk/s1600/DSCN4277.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ea8ECpsTTyQ/T-3JmwJ_xGI/AAAAAAAADiY/Wvm6aPxxNXk/s640/DSCN4277.JPG" width="568" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For this card I used papers from Pink Paislee too, stamp by Papertrey Ink. Prima flower, Ribbon from American Crafts. S</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hq3VFiqFO0Y/T-3Jnn9Nx5I/AAAAAAAADig/hi4za_OL7Z8/s1600/DSCN4278.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hq3VFiqFO0Y/T-3Jnn9Nx5I/AAAAAAAADig/hi4za_OL7Z8/s640/DSCN4278.JPG" width="518" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Another super cool card using Pink Paislee papers and a big prima flower. </span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QUuh8X44L0c/T-3JoCLgU2I/AAAAAAAADio/zP-XjtzPR50/s1600/DSCN4279.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QUuh8X44L0c/T-3JoCLgU2I/AAAAAAAADio/zP-XjtzPR50/s640/DSCN4279.JPG" width="562" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This next card is one that makes me happy. Maybe it's the color combo. The papers are from Webster's pages Let's Celebrate. I used glimmer mist to ink the mat paper yellow. Then I used Copic markers and blended them to look like they're fading, Sentiment from Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FpAsZq6CZ1Y/T-3Jopol2DI/AAAAAAAADiw/nYmF9M9On2s/s1600/DSCN4281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="540" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FpAsZq6CZ1Y/T-3Jopol2DI/AAAAAAAADiw/nYmF9M9On2s/s640/DSCN4281.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This is the first time I use vellum in a card, but it made sense since I wanted the festive Webster's pages paper to shine through without losing focus on the sentiment by Papertrey Ink. Ribbon by American Crafts.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xjo1nj-Qpy8/T-3J8p_z_kI/AAAAAAAADi8/9rNqsIPOHco/s1600/DSCN4282.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xjo1nj-Qpy8/T-3J8p_z_kI/AAAAAAAADi8/9rNqsIPOHco/s640/DSCN4282.JPG" width="614" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I want to add two more cards that I loved! It's funny how inspiration sometimes just comes without warning... I used papers from Heidi Swapp and a brooch by Melissa Frances. Sentiment by Papertrey Ink.</span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CLqYWdHTsqY/T--UGDPOkQI/AAAAAAAADjQ/9rTrxl9xjCw/s1600/DSCN4270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="572" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CLqYWdHTsqY/T--UGDPOkQI/AAAAAAAADjQ/9rTrxl9xjCw/s640/DSCN4270.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Another cool card using papers from the new Heidi Swapp collection. Sentiment is from the super whimsy and cool stamps from Paper Smooches.</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-srCLp2lTrVY/T--UGuHmIxI/AAAAAAAADjY/qbRLsbkM--o/s1600/DSCN4271.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="468" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-srCLp2lTrVY/T--UGuHmIxI/AAAAAAAADjY/qbRLsbkM--o/s640/DSCN4271.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

Especially the ones I donate to OWH because there are certain guidelines about chunky embellies and the such (basically no chunky embellies or glitter). I gotta tell you, I used mostly scraps here! So proud of myself when I do that!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For this card I used a Stampabilities stamp, and papers from Sweet Tooth from Bo Bunny. The star is from Pebbles. </span><br />

It was so hard to slow down and learn to do the best I can and only that. You see I tend to be a perfectionist, but it is getting to me. So I stopped doing the one thing that is relaxing for me. Spring break for us begins today, so I'm taking a little bit of time to post some of the things I've done in the last week. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I was in the mood to make cards and decided to make some and donate them to OWH. This nonprofit sends blank cards to deployed military members so they can write home to their families. You will see the cards are very simple, as in the past I had gone all out with chunky embellies and was told that as beautiful as these embellies are they don't travel all those thousands of miles very well. So I decided to keep things simple but trying to add some texture and details here and there. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The first card is made with papers from Pink Paislee Daily Junque and stamp by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday. I wrapped some seam binding around one of the panels and then used some chipboard from Basic Grey Sugar Rush I've had sitting on my stash for a very long time. I tell you, if you are a layout scrapper, making cards can help use all your supplies!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tK15kOf4mk0/T2PC7w5LvrI/AAAAAAAADMQ/02ulnHKBFaA/s1600/DSCN3341.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="444" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tK15kOf4mk0/T2PC7w5LvrI/AAAAAAAADMQ/02ulnHKBFaA/s640/DSCN3341.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This card is also made with papers from Daily Junque by Pink Paislee and stamp by Ali Edwards. Chipboard heart from Sugar Rush collection by Basic Grey. I used seam binding to "hug" the card and then added a button and laced it with twine. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NHyTxRV3ppk/T2PC9HiUUeI/AAAAAAAADMY/--OkjPp_lPg/s1600/DSCN3342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NHyTxRV3ppk/T2PC9HiUUeI/AAAAAAAADMY/--OkjPp_lPg/s640/DSCN3342.JPG" width="536" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I think I really pushed myself with this card. I used like 4 kinds of patterned and non-patterned paper. But I think it works. The base card is made from paper from Daily Junque, then I used a white panel that I had machine stitched. Then on top two scrap panels from the same Daily Junque papers. I tied a pretty ribbon around and made a bow. Stamps by Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday (Loving words). The bling is from Webster's Pages Lets celebrate collection. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WqIXrVXpWaY/T2PC9wUJYLI/AAAAAAAADMg/oWbTEQP_YQc/s1600/DSCN3344.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="602" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WqIXrVXpWaY/T2PC9wUJYLI/AAAAAAAADMg/oWbTEQP_YQc/s640/DSCN3344.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Another very simple card using the same line of papers. The stamp is one of my favorite quotes and I love the combination of blue and red. I also used a button and twine to top the seam binding wrap.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--TWQf5MqLNA/T2PC_fVjLyI/AAAAAAAADMo/OviDQFCCM7o/s1600/DSCN3345.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--TWQf5MqLNA/T2PC_fVjLyI/AAAAAAAADMo/OviDQFCCM7o/s640/DSCN3345.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I had gotten this packet of Basic Grey's Out of Pring collection, including the chipboard and everything and just didn't know what to do with it. I do layouts most of the time and prefer real mulberry flowers rather than chipboard ones. But I was surprised to see how well this came together. The sentiment is from stamps from Ali Edwards.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4KLcIwVDAoM/T2PDANQWWVI/AAAAAAAADMw/dlnwm5C6JTs/s1600/DSCN3346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4KLcIwVDAoM/T2PDANQWWVI/AAAAAAAADMw/dlnwm5C6JTs/s640/DSCN3346.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I totally fell in love with the patterned papers in the Daily Junque collection by Pink Paislee. Especially this navy and white patterned paper, which looked so great with vibrant, neon colors. I used stamps by Ali Edwards here too. The twine is from Pink Paislee Soiree collection and the button is from Basic Grey.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VQ_whkENf4w/T2PDDmxq4CI/AAAAAAAADNQ/Z4YExDjh93A/s1600/DSCN3350.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VQ_whkENf4w/T2PDDmxq4CI/AAAAAAAADNQ/Z4YExDjh93A/s640/DSCN3350.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Another card using this beautiful navy and white paper. I mixed it up with a red button and some neon yellow/green scraps. I used twine to tie up the button, which is from Jenni Bowlin. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1QZpMqezgnU/T2PDChgaxSI/AAAAAAAADNI/wCLayC-vblE/s1600/DSCN3349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1QZpMqezgnU/T2PDChgaxSI/AAAAAAAADNI/wCLayC-vblE/s640/DSCN3349.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Another very simple version of the same idea in a card. Love the simplicity of it. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-o2wfLn1RfZw/T2PDBmrgNGI/AAAAAAAADNA/Z_ubAHG-MJw/s1600/DSCN3348.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="492" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-o2wfLn1RfZw/T2PDBmrgNGI/AAAAAAAADNA/Z_ubAHG-MJw/s640/DSCN3348.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I used a bit more embellies for this card, layering seam binding over ribbon and topping it off with a prima flower. I think I still did well considering I wanted to keep the negative space going on. Stamp from Ali Edwards.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WLh2AmSKi8A/T2PDAxN5aII/AAAAAAAADM4/S_tH3PalpII/s1600/DSCN3347.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="518" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WLh2AmSKi8A/T2PDAxN5aII/AAAAAAAADM4/S_tH3PalpII/s640/DSCN3347.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I love how this card turned out. Papers from Daily Junque, tag from Basic Grey Sugar Rush chipboard. The pretty red seam binding makes the card pop. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kdis_3j9m2Y/T2PDEZlMJ5I/AAAAAAAADNY/bnsOxzOLpNM/s1600/DSCN3351.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="470" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kdis_3j9m2Y/T2PDEZlMJ5I/AAAAAAAADNY/bnsOxzOLpNM/s640/DSCN3351.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The paper here is from Snow Day by Pink Paislee. Believe it or not this collection is winter themed.... but so versatile! Loved the combination of pink and light blue/turquoise. I used a corner punch to embellish. Butterfly punch from Martha Stewart, stamp by Ali Edwards. Little roses from Kaisercraft.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EYzjdo3QVF8/T2PDFbt8FhI/AAAAAAAADNg/ZfQ6M1qsmAU/s1600/DSCN3352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EYzjdo3QVF8/T2PDFbt8FhI/AAAAAAAADNg/ZfQ6M1qsmAU/s640/DSCN3352.JPG" width="586" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I wrapped some twine around this card and then tied it up with a small rose. The sentiment is from Ali Edwards stamps. Paper from Out of Print by Basic Grey. </span><br />

So I definitely stayed inside most of the day. And I created these two whimsical little cards for father's day. I was trying to have options to give to my husband.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8-Afi9N5QkY/TfxHdTq5CVI/AAAAAAAAB2o/bpFNbBdCD0I/s1600/Picture_2246.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8-Afi9N5QkY/TfxHdTq5CVI/AAAAAAAAB2o/bpFNbBdCD0I/s640/Picture_2246.JPG" width="600" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The first one has a nautical air, with the turquoise colors and the beads. The skeleton clock is Dusty Attic, of course I cannot craft without their beautiful pieces!!! I inked with blue chalk ink from Cat's Eye by Colorbox and then sprinkled UTEE in bronze. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PgvxoFT3hyU/TfxHfb8bbhI/AAAAAAAAB2s/Ada6kMLW2Tk/s1600/Picture_2247.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PgvxoFT3hyU/TfxHfb8bbhI/AAAAAAAAB2s/Ada6kMLW2Tk/s640/Picture_2247.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The stamped background was made using stamps by Papertrey Ink and Distress ink in Broken China. The "beads" are actually mosaic tiles I bought at Michael's, and the colors are just gorgeous!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UI08S-e_x1A/TfxHhrgIiDI/AAAAAAAAB2w/UDsqafUlNhw/s1600/Picture_2248.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UI08S-e_x1A/TfxHhrgIiDI/AAAAAAAAB2w/UDsqafUlNhw/s640/Picture_2248.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I made the stick pin using a hat pin and beads from my stash. I added seam binding in a beautiful sapphire blue color.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w6auKGWKhWo/TfxHjeFu9DI/AAAAAAAAB20/p7vDJw9AJr0/s1600/Picture_2250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="576" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w6auKGWKhWo/TfxHjeFu9DI/AAAAAAAAB20/p7vDJw9AJr0/s640/Picture_2250.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next one is a little simpler, and definitely more vintage than whimsical. I created a new color hue for my seam binding collection! It is a mix of greens that turned out fantastic. I used Graphic 45 Proper Gentleman papers.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ybEJ5WH54gU/TfxHl4Pn1oI/AAAAAAAAB3A/_K9ac9c5KSQ/s1600/Picture_2251.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="602" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ybEJ5WH54gU/TfxHl4Pn1oI/AAAAAAAAB3A/_K9ac9c5KSQ/s640/Picture_2251.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The card itself is very simple. I dyed and crinkled the seam binding, tied a knot, added a rusted star I bought at Hobby Lobby, tied a knot out of a strand of burlap and glued it to a journaling card by Studio Calico.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2bOteNdQ8NM/TfxHoC3c-uI/AAAAAAAAB3E/eNrmZtl9whE/s1600/Picture_2252.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="538" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2bOteNdQ8NM/TfxHoC3c-uI/AAAAAAAAB3E/eNrmZtl9whE/s640/Picture_2252.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

Stamp by Papertrey Ink.<br />
</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3W_2UcNTfqo/TfxHqsXXH4I/AAAAAAAAB3I/ShFCfQ_bHwg/s1600/Picture_2253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3W_2UcNTfqo/TfxHqsXXH4I/AAAAAAAAB3I/ShFCfQ_bHwg/s640/Picture_2253.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">That's all I have for today, but stay tuned, I'm crafting something cool for my hubbie as a gift for father's day!!!</span>ScrappyLizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16399707681872206923noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2533025911450310663.post-50948726306794739182011-06-13T21:22:00.000-07:002011-06-22T08:47:35.058-07:00Hand Dyed Crinkle Seam Binding ~ for sale on my ebay!<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I have had such a blast dying this marvel of sewing transplanted into scrapbooking... I tried several techniques and several ways to mix colors, but in the end I decided not to use glimmer mists because the dye tends to be rather clear on seam binding (unless you use the very dark colors) and then it is hard to combine colors (not to mention each bottle retails for $7 and dying seam binding takes a LOT of misting). </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So I opted for using Tim Holtz reinkers, ink pads, stains, and LOTS of water. You see, distress inks are designed to dry slowly and they are water soluble, so when you add even a tiny drop and then add water, it expands quickly. So depending on the color I want I used complimentary colors of seam binding and inks. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This is rather a trial and error endeavor, and believe me, I have messed up several yards of seam binding! The basic technique is adding one or two drops of reinker ink to a mini mister and then fill up with water. If you only have pads, then you can press the inkpad on a craft mat, then sprinkle some water on it, and dip your bundle of seam binding as if you are "cleaning" the mat (this takes a while...). But if you decide to save some time and get some ready-to-use crinkled seam binding, here is the listing: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180684707865&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT">Ebay Listing</a><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180681066028&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT"></a></span><br />

I used the Dusty Attic brackets to frame the cards and gave them a vintage worn finish in beautiful shades of blue and brown. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">In the first card I used the small Dusty Attic tree and inked with a variety of paints to get a distressed, crackled finish. The DA bracket is wrapped with seam binding and the kraft papers are from the new Tim Holtz kraft resist collection. I count myself one of them! So as my husband's birthday approaches, I am faced with creating a card that is beautiful, detailed, reflective of my aesthetic that at the same time is masculine... Definitely a challenge for me! </span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">But here comes Bo Bunny to the rescue with the beautiful antiquey vintage palette of their Timepiece line. I took those papers and created these cards and matching gift box. I'm not sure which one I will give to my husband, but I also have another guy friend's birthday coming up, so took care of that one too.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-swiweawY17E/TZqUDrpvU3I/AAAAAAAABgw/DiFNcYiqhLk/s1600/Picture_1509.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="622" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-swiweawY17E/TZqUDrpvU3I/AAAAAAAABgw/DiFNcYiqhLk/s640/Picture_1509.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I cut out a beautiful star/flower pattern from the Bo Bunny papers and used it as a background for a laser cut fleur de lis. I inked with acrylic paint from Folk Art in red cardinal, vintage gold, and then brushed crackle paint in tarnished brass. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7pLMSROLyIk/TZqUA6h4C9I/AAAAAAAABgs/KQwO2PgdyQo/s1600/Picture_1508.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7pLMSROLyIk/TZqUA6h4C9I/AAAAAAAABgs/KQwO2PgdyQo/s640/Picture_1508.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The seam binding started out white, and I dyed it using walnut stain ink from tsukineko in sienna brown. I crinkled and then dried with a heat tool. The metal piece is from We R Memory Keepers. </span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next one is another version of this card made with the same color palette and papers. I used miniature fleur de lis Dusty Attic pieces that I inked with the same acrylic paints in red cardinal and antique gold. I laid them straight to simulate a border and then tied the same dyed seam binding several times and tied in a bow. I used the same metal piece from WRMK.</span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The box kind of matches the style of the cards. I had this kraft box on my stash, as it was packaging from one of my many purchases online and I really liked the tiny design and kraft paper. The metal plate is from Tim Holtz.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gLGUcewk8vw/TZqUGVuJSuI/AAAAAAAABg0/-9IvjFIJslQ/s1600/Picture_1510.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="590" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gLGUcewk8vw/TZqUGVuJSuI/AAAAAAAABg0/-9IvjFIJslQ/s640/Picture_1510.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So I cut some hinges and a key hole with the Tim Holtz hardware findings for sizzix. I've been working hard trying to get all my cards for OWH packaged and ready to ship, so I'm just now posting the rest of them. For some reason when it comes to cards I love minimalistic touches. I may go all out sometimes, especially with layouts, but with these cards I found out that sometimes less is more. I really hope they are enjoyed by both the service men and women and their loved ones. </b></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-UcBKC-OwTp8/TYGdkLryfvI/AAAAAAAABac/ytk_nA3pn-E/s1600/Picture_1386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-UcBKC-OwTp8/TYGdkLryfvI/AAAAAAAABac/ytk_nA3pn-E/s640/Picture_1386.JPG" width="572" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>First one is pretty simple. I used a 3D cupcake sticker by Jolee's and stamped with the "hey cupcake" birthday stamp from a set that I have had for a very long time and have no idea what brand it is...</b></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I had this piece of chipboard sitting on my stash for ever! It just didn't go with anything. It's by colorbok. I never know what to do with all the buttons I have accumulated through the time I've been scrapbooking. <b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next card is very shabby/vintage style, and the image is also from the same sheet of Crafty Secrets images. I also used My Mind's eye papers here to frame the little girl and the sentiment. I tied seam binding up in a pretty bow to finish up.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-FODNsYN91us/TX7rl6UYBEI/AAAAAAAABZo/_oj9MKubhhE/s1600/Picture_1373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-FODNsYN91us/TX7rl6UYBEI/AAAAAAAABZo/_oj9MKubhhE/s640/Picture_1373.JPG" width="568" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I made this card using the same printed cardstock from My Mind's eye and another image from the sheet by Crafty Secrets. I also added a pink prima flower to embellish. </span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next card is also very simply vintage, with a warm feel that I loved. I used simple creamy cardstock and glued antique-y lace I bought at WalMart. Then I added a purple Prima rose and stamped with Stazon ink in Saddle Brown.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-lC818_JKIhE/TX7rn2PD5XI/AAAAAAAABZs/qHw291qIjGs/s1600/Picture_1374.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-lC818_JKIhE/TX7rn2PD5XI/AAAAAAAABZs/qHw291qIjGs/s640/Picture_1374.JPG" width="566" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next set is made with white cardstock, and embellished with different kinds of pink details. The first one is an Easter card. I used an Easter egg stamp and then colored the eggs with my copic markers. I tied some seam binding in a bow and glued a miniature mulberry rose. Loved the simple and clean look.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H5zBJAjuaEA/TX7rt9Q2-AI/AAAAAAAABZ4/ryZIisy6A1M/s1600/Picture_1377.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="610" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H5zBJAjuaEA/TX7rt9Q2-AI/AAAAAAAABZ4/ryZIisy6A1M/s640/Picture_1377.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next card I embossed with the miniature dots folder from Provo Craft. I then tied a knot using this beautiful gingham ruffled ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I pinned two of my handmade trinket pins (see tutorial on the side...) and used a nestabilities die cut to stamp the sentiment. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-CLNUuffvv6s/TX7rphxEdtI/AAAAAAAABZw/FKP5ODbycGc/s1600/Picture_1375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-CLNUuffvv6s/TX7rphxEdtI/AAAAAAAABZw/FKP5ODbycGc/s640/Picture_1375.JPG" width="638" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I used a damask embossing folder from Provo Craft to create a soft background. I then tied some pink polka dot grosgrain ribbon from Hobby Lobby and one of my handmade pins. </span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This card has more color and a modern kind of vibe. My dear sister passed yesterday morning. Her body could not take the prescribed treatment and she is now in peace and free of pain. She was the most loving person I know, and also the most amazingly kindhearted sister. I will take a break from blogging to be with my family. I thank you for visiting my blog. God bless.</b></span><br />

<div class="mbl notesBlogText clearfix" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><div>In Memoriam<br />
<br />
With you a part of me hath passed away;<br />
For in the peopled forest of my mind<br />
A tree made leafless by this wintry wind<br />
Shall never don again its green array.<br />
Chapel and fireside, country road and bay,<br />
Have something of their friendliness resigned;<br />
Another, if I would, I could not find,<br />
And I am grown much older in a day.<br />
But yet I treasure in my memory<br />
Your gift of charity, and young heart's ease,<br />
And the dear honour of your amity;<br />
For these once mine, my life is rich with these.<br />
And I scarce know which part may greater be,--<br />
What I keep of you, or you rob from me.<br />

Marcela was born with Down's Syndrome and has overcome many of the developmental challenges that come with it. But at only 15 years old, my sister has been diagnosed with leukemia. First I want to get the spotlight on the handmade roses I have listed here: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/65969438/scrapbooking-handmade-pink-roses%20">My Etsy</a></span></b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I have created a layout and two cards featuring some of my items listed right now. The first I want to share is called "Smooch" and it is a Valentine style layout. The picture turned out so cute... My son is kissing his cousin Jocelyn, but he's acting a little shy. I'm so glad I had my camera handy to capture that moment. I used papers from Bo Bunny Crush and My Mind's Eye Lost & Found. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuXVHVsDI/AAAAAAAABHs/-V8lYe0BjaE/s1600/Picture_764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="634" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuXVHVsDI/AAAAAAAABHs/-V8lYe0BjaE/s640/Picture_764.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I used one of the linked heart dies I have listed here: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/65941432/scrapbooking-die-cut-linked-hearts">My Etsy</a> I cut them from white cardstock so they are easily transformed to match your layout or card color palette. The one I used in this layout I embossed with two layers of Pearl UTEE and one layer of MS embossing powder in ladybug red. I love the glossy finish and the amazing palette of red, white, and black. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuT3SOzyI/AAAAAAAABHg/dYCgA_JP1RM/s1600/Picture_761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuT3SOzyI/AAAAAAAABHg/dYCgA_JP1RM/s640/Picture_761.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The bird cage I bought from Kaylori77's etsy shop. Check it out, she has amazing little scrapbook embellies! I embossed with Gold UTEE and the bird that came with it I embossed with the Martha Stewart powder. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuWTa1vRI/AAAAAAAABHo/Qxz4BvpDa48/s1600/Picture_763.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuWTa1vRI/AAAAAAAABHo/Qxz4BvpDa48/s640/Picture_763.JPG" width="444" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I made the rose, which I have listed on etsy right now. The batch has three handmade roses and I will be adding more colors soon. I inked the leaves gold and added some black feathers. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuVH-fF7I/AAAAAAAABHk/egc9fNLI_jw/s1600/Picture_762.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuVH-fF7I/AAAAAAAABHk/egc9fNLI_jw/s640/Picture_762.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next two cards I also made inspired by the pink roses I have on my etsy. I made two cards in two styles, to show how versatile a color can be... The first one has a modern take on pink, mixing black rubons and a simple black sentiment. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuSLYUDmI/AAAAAAAABHY/6jciv0uc5LI/s1600/Picture_759.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="604" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuSLYUDmI/AAAAAAAABHY/6jciv0uc5LI/s640/Picture_759.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuRICnz7I/AAAAAAAABHU/ekXrM2MQCv0/s1600/Picture_758.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuRICnz7I/AAAAAAAABHU/ekXrM2MQCv0/s640/Picture_758.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The second one has a romantic vintage flair, with the vintage image and the flourishes and lace. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuTABUrUI/AAAAAAAABHc/iDT2ROr-be8/s1600/Picture_760.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="632" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuTABUrUI/AAAAAAAABHc/iDT2ROr-be8/s640/Picture_760.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuQJOcvdI/AAAAAAAABHQ/kFNDC3EPHzk/s1600/Picture_757.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TTIuQJOcvdI/AAAAAAAABHQ/kFNDC3EPHzk/s640/Picture_757.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></b><br />

They're actually super easy to make! </b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>You'll need some flower punch outs or die cuts in two sizes. I used the tattered floral die from Alterations by Tim Holtz. I like the distressed look but they will look just as great without any distressing. </b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>1. The first thing is to get three big flowers and two small ones. You can see I used the bigger and medium flowers from the TH die. </b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwoVz6MiI/AAAAAAAABCQ/9mWrnQ8OTBw/s1600/Picture_696.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwoVz6MiI/AAAAAAAABCQ/9mWrnQ8OTBw/s640/Picture_696.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>2. Now that you have your distressed flowers, let's move to the next step. Use a mister to spray some water over the flowers. Just a tiny spray will go a long way, you don't want the layers to tear while you're assembling the rose. </b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw8P57c4I/AAAAAAAABDU/bFGILv6CjcA/s1600/Picture_695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw8P57c4I/AAAAAAAABDU/bFGILv6CjcA/s640/Picture_695.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>3. Now take one flower and fold the petals towards the bottom, as I show in the picture. I use my fingers, but you can use a pencil or an embossing stylus.</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw63lwd4I/AAAAAAAABDQ/8zXdqrROxJs/s1600/Picture_694.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw63lwd4I/AAAAAAAABDQ/8zXdqrROxJs/s640/Picture_694.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b> 4. Your flower should look like this:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw50DsCvI/AAAAAAAABDM/c0WLcnTxCMA/s1600/Picture_693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw50DsCvI/AAAAAAAABDM/c0WLcnTxCMA/s640/Picture_693.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>5. Now take your flower and gently fold the petals toward the center. I use my thumb, so I just put the flower and press gently to create a "bowl" like the one you see in the picture:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw4O5VCFI/AAAAAAAABDI/ZDt-UbMVHc8/s1600/Picture_692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw4O5VCFI/AAAAAAAABDI/ZDt-UbMVHc8/s640/Picture_692.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw3FdKciI/AAAAAAAABDE/6600ZitMpUI/s1600/Picture_691.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw3FdKciI/AAAAAAAABDE/6600ZitMpUI/s640/Picture_691.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>6. Repeat this step with one other big flower. Your two layers so far should look like this:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwtWeJ_wI/AAAAAAAABCg/vNTR2DNnWVE/s1600/Picture_682.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwtWeJ_wI/AAAAAAAABCg/vNTR2DNnWVE/s640/Picture_682.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>7. The third big flower layer you basically do the same folding of the petals, but try to get the "bowl" in the middle a little smaller and the petals should look tighter like this:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwsPD006I/AAAAAAAABCc/HDfvcd3glPc/s1600/Picture_681.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwsPD006I/AAAAAAAABCc/HDfvcd3glPc/s640/Picture_681.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>8. Now onto the small flowers. Fold the petals towards the bottom of the flower as you did with the big flowers. </b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw03wLZbI/AAAAAAAABC8/DnIAWZuq_UY/s1600/Picture_689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlw03wLZbI/AAAAAAAABC8/DnIAWZuq_UY/s640/Picture_689.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>9. Now, instead of creating a "bowl" in the middle, squeeze it towards the center so the petals are really tight</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwz4Oze3I/AAAAAAAABC4/79nz-Ze2N98/s1600/Picture_688.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwz4Oze3I/AAAAAAAABC4/79nz-Ze2N98/s640/Picture_688.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>10. Now the last small flower, you will need to squeeze even tighter so the center cannot be seen. I usually take it from the bottom and squeeze it like you see on the picture. </b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwxwoRcUI/AAAAAAAABCw/LJOFtUCshtw/s1600/Picture_686.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwxwoRcUI/AAAAAAAABCw/LJOFtUCshtw/s640/Picture_686.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwy-Hh6zI/AAAAAAAABC0/rAKt8cEm-XI/s1600/Picture_687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwy-Hh6zI/AAAAAAAABC0/rAKt8cEm-XI/s640/Picture_687.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>11.Now take your scissors and snip off the bottom as seen in the picture:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwvtanUEI/AAAAAAAABCo/aRzdfV01TzI/s1600/Picture_684.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwvtanUEI/AAAAAAAABCo/aRzdfV01TzI/s640/Picture_684.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b> 12. This is what you should have now:</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwuv2BjOI/AAAAAAAABCk/CA2mKJtLtmE/s1600/Picture_683.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwuv2BjOI/AAAAAAAABCk/CA2mKJtLtmE/s640/Picture_683.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>12.The last step is to glue all the layers, and you're done!</b></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwpo68eMI/AAAAAAAABCU/OCSmR-IRq6g/s1600/Picture_679.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSlwpo68eMI/AAAAAAAABCU/OCSmR-IRq6g/s640/Picture_679.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b> And here's the layout where I used them. The smaller ones are done the same way, except instead of three big flower layers, you use the same size of flower. </b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSkdyzNSzPI/AAAAAAAABCM/hqqQ_KLL_gE/s1600/Picture_667.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="638" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSkdyzNSzPI/AAAAAAAABCM/hqqQ_KLL_gE/s640/Picture_667.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />

I've been slow on recovering from all the traveling and holiday busyness. To be quite honest, I thought I had lost my inspiration! For some reason I'm into minimalistic stuff right now, maybe I'm just lazy, but it poses an interesting challenge, to create something beautiful without much adornment. Here's my latest batch of layouts.</b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>I recently signed up to get the Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook and I'm smitten so far! The kit was very reasonably priced and had so many goodies! No add-ons and I got very very cool papers, flowers, embellishments and fibers. I had already bought the Night Divine collection, but it's always good to have more than one of these incredibly beautiful papers. This is my baby during one of our holiday shopping trips. The background is this beautiful store where they had such amazing Christmas decorations. He was so excited about it!</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdfjJKMHI/AAAAAAAAA_A/CKOdMCXfYSQ/s1600/Picture_606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdfjJKMHI/AAAAAAAAA_A/CKOdMCXfYSQ/s640/Picture_606.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b> </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>I actually used the sketch that came with the kit. Never actually followed a sketch before, and found it to be very useful when your imagination just doesn't work quite well at that moment. Papers from Night Divine by CI, and Holly Jolly by MME. The holly berries are Prima and came with the kit. I used a lot of the chipboard from the MME collection Holly Jolly from my stash.</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdbuZx7FI/AAAAAAAAA-0/SjllMHlTfcU/s1600/Picture_603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdbuZx7FI/AAAAAAAAA-0/SjllMHlTfcU/s640/Picture_603.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdc_MvQjI/AAAAAAAAA-4/SFRbzTbjskY/s1600/Picture_604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdc_MvQjI/AAAAAAAAA-4/SFRbzTbjskY/s640/Picture_604.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdeZEsRUI/AAAAAAAAA-8/3XiPt7qAQss/s1600/Picture_605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdeZEsRUI/AAAAAAAAA-8/3XiPt7qAQss/s640/Picture_605.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>The next layout really did give me grief until I just let go. The die cut flocked paper from CI was just so beautiful that nothing I added seemed right. Except for the gold poinsettia and the leafy bead sprays. So I left it at that. The poinsettia is cut from a flower stem bought at Michaels and the golden beads are from the MCS kit. The pic was taken outside and my baby was so excited about the Santa hat!</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdr1otVlI/AAAAAAAAA_k/7ZVZO8HbemE/s1600/Picture_615.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdr1otVlI/AAAAAAAAA_k/7ZVZO8HbemE/s640/Picture_615.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next layout is another first for me. I made a two page layout using the beautiful Noel pps from Teresa Collins. I had been saving that paper with all the numbers for a layout, but they did not all fit one page. So I did a collage of sorts spanning over two pages. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdj2Zn9_I/AAAAAAAAA_M/CkKCJh8ZiGk/s1600/Picture_609.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdj2Zn9_I/AAAAAAAAA_M/CkKCJh8ZiGk/s640/Picture_609.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The embellishing is minimal here, I just added some 3D dots to all the numbers and then placed them on the cardstock. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdlOxzJVI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/I7SOOIwPbe8/s1600/Picture_610.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdlOxzJVI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/I7SOOIwPbe8/s640/Picture_610.JPG" width="626" /></a></div><b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">On the last page I added some Prima Poinsettias and a jingle bell, for a simple elegant look. I actually like the minimalistic elegance look of Teresa Collins' papers. I also used a lot of the wallet-sized prints I had gotten of these cute pictures of my baby.</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdm9mV_FI/AAAAAAAAA_U/AO-_Y_Dpb98/s1600/Picture_611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdm9mV_FI/AAAAAAAAA_U/AO-_Y_Dpb98/s640/Picture_611.JPG" width="638" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The next layout is also following that minimalistic elegance style that I love from Teresa Collins. I used a strip of numbers from the Noel cardstock and then used a half bracket layered over black and white flocked paper from Le Creme by MME. The title is also cut from the TC Noel pps. </span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdiUHrrhI/AAAAAAAAA_I/RQYy2JNX9ac/s1600/Picture_608.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdiUHrrhI/AAAAAAAAA_I/RQYy2JNX9ac/s640/Picture_608.JPG" width="638" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The last layout is not my favorite, but I did like the TC pps quote I used to embellish it. To me, family is the most precious gift of all, and I got to do just that these holidays, as I got to visit my family in Mexico. </span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdoPiOpvI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/FbrPnr4RrT8/s1600/Picture_612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="638" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdoPiOpvI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/FbrPnr4RrT8/s640/Picture_612.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The ribbon here is twisted and I actually sewed the twists so it would stay in place. The rest is quite simple, just some paper layering and minor distressing. </span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdpjYMk_I/AAAAAAAAA_c/E2_b-r1meV8/s1600/Picture_613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="402" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TSQdpjYMk_I/AAAAAAAAA_c/E2_b-r1meV8/s640/Picture_613.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><b><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The original cut out from the TC papers was black & white, and I used my copic markers to fill in the roses and leaves and some of the flourishes. I remembered how my grandmother used to make wreaths for every holiday and I used to sit down in her kitchen table and look at her beautiful creations. I clearly remembered the Day of the Dead wreaths she made with crepe paper, wire, and ribbon. </b></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TPMk8IauCdI/AAAAAAAAArs/dWQbop3slY0/s1600/Picture+6390.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="377" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZQ4p9nCf5_Q/TPMk8IauCdI/AAAAAAAAArs/dWQbop3slY0/s400/Picture+6390.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>In my nostalgia I thought about using my ribbon to decorate a wreath. I had some cardboard left over and I drew a circle and cut it out to use it as the base. Then I started scrunching up the wired ribbon all around. I used glue to keep it into place and mini brads on some parts, just to keep it in place but I took them away when it was dry.</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>The poinsettias are from Michael's. They have stems with 3-4 poinsettias for like $1.99. I kept the palette soft and used white and gold poinsettias. By the way, did you know poinsettias come from Mexico? Back in the 1800s the US Ambassador to Mexico introduced them to the United States. His last name was Poinsett, so the flowers were named after him. The Spanish name is Nochebuena, which is also the name used to refer to Christmas Eve in Mexico. TFL!!</b></span><br />
